Introducing Our New Look
Whilst Commodore has been successfully serving the contract kitchen sector for almost 50 years, its acquisition by Nobia prompted a step change within the business.
We no longer wanted just to be known as a Kitchen manufacturer as we were already supporting several customers with their bedroom furniture too. Add to this the rise of ‘Open plan living’ whereby our customers again asked us to provide lounge furniture to exactly match the design of the kitchen within the same room, we have had to evolve swiftly.
Our manufacturing expertise hasn’t diminished, in fact it has been strengthened by new senior team members and significant investment via our parent company, but, and very importantly, we are now a design led business manufacturing furniture, no longer just a factory making kitchen cabinets. That important step change has meant we now employ more designers from different backgrounds, not just Kitchens and have our own trend consultant with the enviable job of visiting all the design led showcases around Europe to produce an accurate guide of how trends, materials and colours will come to market in the next 2-3 years.
Being part of a group that has a turnover of more than a billion pounds, through 17 kitchen and furniture businesses in the UK, Europe and Scandinavia also gives us a colossal amount of information on trends, materials, manufacturing and most importantly, consumers. We really do now have fantastic information through retail, trade and contract group businesses that we can share with our own customers, anticipating their customers’ needs and aspirations, to ultimately sell more new homes, quickly.
Combining all of these new skills, tools and colleagues, meant the time was exactly right to rebrand, re-energise and refocus the business. Commodore Design is well invested, has outstanding colleagues working within it and has a real passion for innovation, design and quality, right up to how we now focus on sustainability, investing in the youth through apprenticeships and finally Installing our furniture to the highest standards.
